With over two decades of experience teaching movement and Pilates, I bring my expertise to Align Pilates. Originally from outside of Pittsburgh, PA, I have always been passionate about dance and movement. In the early stages of my dance career in Chicago I discovered the profound benefits of Pilates. Through the method I gained a deeper understanding of my own anatomy and how to move more efficiently as a dancer. I developed an acute eye for movement patterns and mechanics of the body, which I use to help others tap into their own body's potential. I believe this work is a powerful tool for achieving a strong, capable, and grounded body and mind. This understanding has shaped my career as an instructor, choreographer, dancer, and movement educator.
I have taught Pilates to all ages and abilities at studios, gyms, and in higher education throughout Chicagoland, Ohio, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, and now in my town of Montclair, New Jersey as owner of Align Pilates.
Since 2007, I have been at the helm of The Moving Architects, an all-female dance company and non-profit organization. The company leads classes, workshops, and performance projects locally, nationally, and internationally (including Tajikistan - ask me about it!). I also host and produce the company's popular interview podcast Movers & Shapers: A Dance Podcast. I continue to remain active as a guest artist through the company's teaching, touring, and performance projects, and proud of the awards and accolades I've received as a choreographer throughout my career. One of the company's latest initiatives is Where She Once Stood, a dance performance project that brings to life the rich history of the Crane House & Historic YWCA. In partnership with Montclair History Center, the site-immersive performance weaves dance and music together with the spaces and women-centered historical narratives. The result is inspiring and groundbreaking work. My pursuits go beyond Pilates and Dance; I am also an arts administrator, mother, wife, and an active member of my local community.
